The Goods and Service Tax Network (GSTN) is a non-profit, non-government organization which manages the entire IT system of the GST portal. The reform mandated integration of entire nation’s diverse tax portfolio into a single taxation system and this brought upon a massive complexity in developing Data Centres and Recovery Data Centres. The stakeholders understood the benefits associated with engaging data centre specialists to design and build their mission critical environment and selected Infosys and 3C3 as its partners.
Design and Build 2 Primary Data Centres & 2 Recovery Data Centres on 3c3 Fibre, end to end.
Challenges & Constraints The primary challenge was meeting the required go live date. Co-ordinating multiple vendors and, the delivery, testing and migration of new IT equipment, and systems, into a fully operational data centre build was challenging initially. However, through close liaison with the client and third-party contractors along with coordination of critical path items and activities optimised, the business environment was handed over successfully and before the deadline.
A strong IT Infrastructure and Service back bone which enables capture, processing and exchange of information amongst the stakeholders was required. The proposed data centre designs had significant advantages as it was more space efficient, provided more cabinet positions, delivered more power and cooling capacity and was more resilient. This project was completed in a record time frame due to the programme constraints and urgency. Careful attention to client requirements ensured a very energy efficient data centre.
